Cottman Transmission

I approached Cottman thorough other references and they gave me a honest approach to deal with the check engine light issue. As a result of that, i handed over my car to them & the result was positive.

I was thinking that a internet would have helped me, while i was waiting for the initial diagnosis!

My brake indicator light was coming on intermittently. The dealer wanted to charge almost $100 just to look at the car and determine the problem. At Cottman, the diagnostics were complimentary. Turned out it was my front brake pads; they called and had the correct ones for my car brought over to their store and replaced them while I waited, which was great, because I had drove all the way from far N Raleigh. The brake pad replacement was less than it would have been at the dealership.

Our transmision was broken and we took it to our dealer 1st and they wanted to replace the whole transmissionwe went to Cottman's instead and the rebuilt the transmission at 1/3 of the cost and when I had a leak from thier work they promptly repaired it without quetsion. I will never take my car to the dealer again! This Cottman's has made me a customer!

Went to AAMCO first and felt like I was talikng to a used car lot salesman. AAMCO quoted me a price without even looking at my car $2495.00

Went to Cottman next and was greeted by the manager Brad. He immedaitely stopped what he was doing and had his tech drive the car with me so that I could better explain my issue.

after 30 minutes of FREE diagnostiics they verified I had an internal issue with the transmission and said they would need to open the transmission in order to know what parts where damaged. this cost me $300

Next day I got a quote of $1942.35 the total repair with including the original $300 tear down, warranty, taxes and coupon ( I had no coupon they gave me discount).

2 days later I picked up my car for a total repair of $1932.45. Over $500 less than AAMCO. No surprises just exactly what they promised.

I am bringing my wifes car in next week for brakes since they are a full service center.

I've waited about 4 weeks to create this review because I didn't want to be too quick to praise a major job right after it comes out of the garage.

My high mileage Ford Expedition started having a shudder when shifting into overdrive. I took it to Cottman for an initial diagnosis which was done quickly by a test drive and the price for dropping the transmission for an estimate was given. Now I was quite skeptical as you hear all the horror stories about transmission jobs. I took the vehicle back for a few days as I looked around and found more positive comments on Daniel's shop than anyone else in the Triangle. So I took the vehicle back to him and everything was torn down, estimated and fixed in 3 days. The cost did not exceed the estimate and it has driven great ever since - probably as good as when it was new.

I really liked how Daniel explained how he ran the business and the ability to get a 3yr warranty for a small amount more. I would rather not deal with coupons, but Daniel just took off a $200 coupon price with no work on my part. Other than tracking a bit of shop grime on my running boards, everything was great. I would do another transmission job with them and would like to service my older truck there instead of the dealer.

We have had our 1999 Dodge Caravan in to see Daniel and Brad on two occasions now. We are new to the area and didn't know where to go so we were looking around on the internet.
Our first experience was amazing. I went online, read a few reviews and decided this was where we were brining our car. It was about 830pm on a Friday when I made an appointment for Saturday morning. Within 10 minutes Daniel was calling me to get some background information and confirm my appointment for Saturday!
After a few days of repair work, we had our car back and running great.
A few months later, we had to take it in again for another issue. Again, Daniel and Brad kept us informed and took care of our car.
We will be going back to had additional work done as needed.

My car was acting sluggish, I called around a few places, one guy actually talked my ear off, but was going to charge me $90.00 and hour, to drive it around and see what is wrong with it, I hear he is the "best," but unfortunately my pocket can not afford him..so I went to Cottmans, where my boyfriend and I met Daniel, who was heaven sent. I am on my own, in a new state, with just my boyfriend, and making minimum wage to get through school, he was fair, honest, and he didn't look at me like a dollar sign, which was kind of nice, and is hard to find. I will be going back, and so is my boyfriend, Daniel is a wonderful man, and I am definately happy with everything, and will be seeing him soon to get the remainder of my car fixed :) it's old, and needs some loving!

After receiving mixed messages from another auto shop about which repairs my car needed, I sought a second opinion from Cottman Transmission (which I found online). After the mechanic at Cottman inspected my car, he showed me what was wrong (rear break caliber) as well as explained why the other mechanic provided mixed messages. After which, he called several part shops to find the best-priced caliber.

The mechanic quoted a price that shocked me because it was 3-times less than the other shop's quote. Part of the reason for the price difference was because the other shop suggested unnecessary work (fix both rear calibers). Even if Cottman had fixed both calibers, it still would have been half the price as the other shop. Last, Cottman was able to have the part delivered, and fixed my car within 2 hours of me arriving at the shop

Thus, I?ve concluded that Cottman Transmission provides fast, friendly, and competitively priced auto work.

PS I drove from Chapel Hill to Cary for the work and would do so again.
